TIMES MADIUN, JAKARTA – New Autonomous Regions or new provinces in Papua have been announced by the Indonesian Parliament: Central Papua, South Papua, and Central Highlands Papua. Let's look at some potential offers that can be included in your itinerary during holiday.

Central Papua

Lake Habema, located in Jayawijaya Regency, it is one of the tourist destination you must visit when going to this province. Reporting from Celebes, this lake is also called Lake Yuginopa, or a lake above the clouds.

The name was derived from how high is the location of the lake. It is situated on 3,225 meter above sea level. While relaxing on this lake, you will be presented with views of green meadows and also several types of birds. If you are lucky you could catch some fish or crabs around the lake.

The Indigenous tribes that inhabit this area are the Amungme, Moni, and Mee tribes which still exist today. In addition to some of its extraordinary natural attractions, Central Papua is also a place for the largest gold mining site in the world, namely the Grasberg Gold Mine.

South Papua

Merauke is the capital city of this province and is home to the famous tribe from Papua, the Asmat Tribe. If you visit this province, you will see the daily life of the Asmat people, who carry out wood carving activities or use rowboat transportation as their mobility. Apart from the Asmat, the Marind, Kombay, Korowai, and Muyu tribes also reside in this new province.

As per se, South Papua Province has Wasur National Park which offer its natural beauty. According to GNFI, the biodiversity in this national park is very high. You can find rare species of Cendrawasih and Wallabies. You may also see the beauty of Musamus, built by the existing Termite colony.

Papua Central Mountains

This new province, also called Meepago, has the capital city of Nabire, with a million natural attractions it offers. One of them is the Kwatisore Waters, home to Sharks and Whales. That's suitable for those of you who have a hobby of diving. Because if you are lucky, you will meet a whale shark with the Latin name Rhincodon typus. Based on Nabire's official government account, Papuans call it Gurano Bintang fish.

Another popular tour is the Baliem Valley. As reported by GNFI, this valley in the Jayawijaya Mountains has a beautiful view. This is because the place is surrounded by views of mountains as high as 1,600 meters above sea level. If you visit this area, you must maintain your attitude and actions because this area is still inhabited by the Dani, Lani, and Yali Indigenous Tribes.
