TIMES MADIUN, JAKARTA – The year-end holidays is on its way. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office (TNBTS) in East Java, Indonesia, remains vigilant in its efforts to balance the allure of Mount Bromo's scenic beauty with sustainable tourism management.

In light of the anticipated surge in visitors during the festive season, TNBTS has maintained a firm quota of 2,752 visitors per day. This allocation is thoughtfully distributed across key areas within the park to ensure a harmonious experience for both tourists and the environment.

The breakdown of the visitor quota includes Bukit Cinta with 126 visitors per day, Bukit Kedaluh with 401 visitors per day, and Penanjakan with 823 visitors per day. Plus, Mentigen with 206 visitors per day and the popular Savana Teletubbies hosting 1,196 visitors daily.

Septi, the spokesperson for TNBTS, emphasized the importance of adhering to this visitor quota. "The quota remains fixed at the specified number of 2,752 visits per day," she affirmed.

This strategic decision aims to strike a balance between promoting tourism and preserving the delicate ecosystem of Mount Bromo. Anticipating the influx of visitors during the holiday season, TNBTS is gearing up for heightened security measures.

For the Safety of the Visitors

The implementation of special security protocols is designed to proactively manage and anticipate the increased number of tourists visiting Mount Bromo. Septi also issued a crucial reminder to all visitors, urging them to prioritize personal health considerations, particularly as the period is predicted to coincide with the rainy season.

From September 20 to November 20, 2023, TNBTS recorded a total of 40,954 tourist visits. Among these, 38,186 were domestic tourists, showcasing the enduring popularity of Mount Bromo among Indonesians, while 2,768 were international tourists, highlighting its global appeal.

Mount Bromo has consistently held its position as a flagship tourist destination in East Java, with 318,919 recorded tourist visits in 2022. Beyond the picturesque landscapes, the mountain has made a significant contribution to the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) with a notable figure of IDR 11.65 billion.

While Mount Bromo continues to captivate visitors with its breathtaking vistas, TNBTS remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainable tourism practices. The combination of a fixed visitor quota and enhanced security measures reflects the park's dedication to preserving the natural beauty and ecological balance ensuring that it remains a cherished destination for generations to come.
