TIMES MADIUN, JAKARTA – Java Lotus Hotel Jember is once again expanding its range of classic international cuisine with a local twist with its new menu item, Classic Fish and Chips.
As if there is no end to its culinary innovation, the hotel's latest creation is being prepared to welcome the international visitors who are likely to come to Jember Fashion Carnival (JFC) on August 4-6.
Jeffrey Wibisono, the General Manager of Java Lotus Hotel, revealed that the hotel's kitchen, which specializes in spicy, salty, and savory dishes commonly consumed by the people of Jember, has added to its repertoire with the introduction of Classic Fish and Chips.
"This popular snack, which is a must-eat for Westerners and is typically accompanied by fried bananas in the daily life of the archipelago's people, is made with local market ingredients such as Dory fish, batter flour, and spices," he explained.
The Reason Why Java Lotus Choose Fish and Chips
According to Jeffrey, the dish was chosen because of its unique history. Created in the 1860s, it has never gone out of fashion and has endured despite the proliferation of other this salt water creature dishes.
"Fish and chips is one of the comfort foods that is enjoyed by many people because it is light, yet filling because it is served with French fries," he explained. The tenderness of the boneless Dory fillet, wrapped in classic Western-style seasoned flour prepared by Arif, the Chef de Cuisine at Java Lotus Hotel, makes it even more enjoyable in any situation.
"One serving of Classic Fish and Chips already includes French fries, fresh salad, and three types of sauce: tartar, tomato, and chili sauce. If you want to try it with our signature Java Lotus chili paste, it's perfectly balanced!" said Jeffrey.
It wouldn't be complete, however, without a glass of refreshing drink to accompany the dish. Don't worry, Java Lotus Hotel has that covered by offering Virgin Sangria, a Spanish-style summer drink that can be ordered by the pitcher and served chilled.
